Visa Information
1. Entry requirements
Foreigners seeking to enter the United Republic of Tanzania should be in the possession of valid passports or any other travel document. The passport or any other travel document is to be presented to the Immigration Control Officer at the point of entry. The travel document must be presented along with one of the following:
- A Valid visa or
- A residence permit or
- A pass
N.B: A visitor must also present an onward or return ticket together with proof that he/she has sufficient funds to support himself or her self while in Tanzania.
2. Visas
A visa is a permission granted to a foreigner who intends to enter into Tanzania for business, holiday, studies or conduct research or any other approved activities. Visas should be obtained at Tanzania Embassies/High Commissions abroad or at the entry point.
3. Types of Visas
There are several types of entry visas, including Ordinary, Diplomatic/Service and Carring on Temporary Assignment. The type of Visa is determined by the intended travel and other facts. Details could be obtained from the Embassy.
4. Visa Application
A dully filled Visa Application Form (Download) should be presented to the Embassy's Consular Office Visa applications for entry to Tanzania must be accompanied with and meet the following requirements:
1. A Passport (valid at least not less than six months from the date of entry)
2. One recent passport size photograph
3. For Postal application, a prepaid self-addressed envelope
4. Supporting letter for Diplomatic, Service and Business Visas
5. The required fee.
