1. Entry requirements

Foreigners seeking to enter the United Republic of Tanzania should be in the possession of valid passports or any other travel document. The passport or any other travel document is to be presented to the Immigration Control Officer at the point of entry. All travelers must present their document along with one of the following:

- A Valid visa or
- A residence permit or
- A pass

N.B: A visitor must also present an onward or return ticket together with proof that he/she has sufficient funds to support himself or her self while in Tanzania.

2. Visas

A visa is a permission granted to a foreigner who intends to enter into Tanzania for business, holiday, studies or conduct research or any other approved activities. Visas should be obtained at Tanzania Embassies/High Commissions abroad or at the entry point.

Those who are travelling with children under 18 years old, should provide a "Composition de menage". If a minor child is travelling alone or with one parent or someone else, authorisation from parents should be provided and certified by the Commune.

 

3. Types of Visas

There are several types of entry visas, including Ordinary, Diplomatic/Service and Carrying on Temporary Assignment. The type of Visa is determined by the intended travel and other facts. Details could be obtained from the Embassy.


4.  Visa Application


A dully filled Visa Application Form (Download) or obtain at the Embassy and thereafter, should be presented to the Embassy's Consular Office Visa applications for entry to Tanzania must be accompanied with and meet the following requirements:


1. A Passport (validity should be minimum of six (6) months from the date of entry to Tanzania)
2. Two recent passport size photographs

3. Note Verbale for Diplomats or official duty only.

4. The required fee.

Visa for Americans:

-Validity of Passport for Americans is one (1) year from the date of entry to Tanzania and visa fee is € 100.

- Other Nationalities is € 50.

- Business visa € 250.

5. Any supporting document related to your application.

6. A Copy of Flight Reservation.

 

Note: If you are going for a Conference or Meeting or Voluntary activities,  you are required to bring a letter from your organisation/company, similarly a letter from the host in Tanzania.
